Hi David
Just out of curiousity, have you experimented with receiving
loops at all?
On 160m, I pretty much have to receive on a loop, as my
vertical is very noisy in this neighborhood.
There is a tremendous wealth of info about loop antennas on
the web.
I have three loops. One tuned loop for 160m on a cheap Radio
Shack TV rotator, an untuned loop that can be swapped with
the tuned one for use on 80 and 40, and a fixed Flag loop
which is aimed at New York. Info on the Flag loop can be
found at http://www.angelfire.com/md/k3ky/page37.html

Good luck and 73
