The Xtal must be a fundamental Xtal, an overtone Xtal won't oscillate in the SoftRock. It would be difficult to find a fundamental Xtal for 32.86 MHz. The technique used is 3rd harmonic sub-sampling (11 * 3) / 4 = 8.25 MHz. You also have to reverse the I & Q going to the sound card.
