Hi, I second this idea. I've been working on this one in my mind for ages. Mostly with the idea of being able to remotely operate my radio from anywhere in the house over a wireless network from a laptop. Secondly with the idea that I wouldn't need a dedicated computer at the radio end. Thirdly, that if done well, all the radio/equipment interfaces would become multiplatform, ie run off any comprehensive system/application.

Much software has been written to make [mis]use of various interfaces on "standard" hardware. The use of a parallel port to control something is typical. What we really need is a general purpose device that interfaces on the network and may be easily addressed by software. In most systems software has easy access to the network so it seems to me to make sense to put our various bits of I/O into a bit of kit that speaks IP and plugs into an ethernet. 73 de Brian, WB6RQN Brian Lloyd - brian HYPHEN wb6rqn AT lloyd DOT com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
