Hi David, I use 50 to 100K resistors on my verticals for static drain, plus arc plugs, 1:1 isolation baluns and my feeds are either buried or laying on the ground.
Hopefully, any lightning will find an easier path to ground than thru my rig! My comments were geared towards folks with small gardens and many antennas when operating. Grounding unused antennas for one set of frequencies my be detrimental to the pattern of the antenna you're using. I try to keep that in mind, particularly when I'm phasing vertical systems. They are difficult enough without inducing some unwanted influence from another antenna. It's quite a challenge on the low bands. Cheers, Julius n2wn "I think the point about "grounding" unused antennas is most probably to drain static in which case a resistor in the grounding line would work and not detune much. I wonder if anybody uses chokes on their verticals as they do on broadcast stations.
