Look out for K3 this Christmas season, which I predict to be the ham radio equivalent of the Furby, Playstation, or tickle me Elmo this year.
Everyone will want one, some will get them, and some will scour the [EMAIL PROTECTED] listings looking for one on Christmas eve. !!! I asked my XYL about four days before the K3 was announced to bring me back to reality if I EVER asked for another new transceiver, since they are all the same anyway, overpriced, my classic rigs just do excellent work, and they are paid for. I told her emphatically to deny my request for funds for any future new transceivers at all. I had been going through the same list over and over (FT2000, Orion, OMNI VII etc.) and just didn't want to impulse buy anything that I really had no need for. Fast forward five days and the announcement of the K3. Ut - Oh. Well groveling worked, again, (19 years married) and we made it on the list, but was that one to sweat for the ages... ;-) Thanks, dear! It's seldom about needs , it's more what you can afford and want to do. If it was only the A to B needs I still would have my old tentec triton 1. So the question " why buy a K3 " would rather be : 1. Can you afford it? 2. Do you want it?
