Indeed, Geoff. In fact, all 6M-capable radios should come affixed with a
prominent label:
WARNING: OPERATING THIS RADIO ON THE 6M BAND CAN BE IMMEDIATELY AND SEVERELY
HABIT-FORMING. SUDDEN LOSS OF INTEREST IN NORMAL HF OPERATION AND THE RAPID
ONSET OF COMPULSIVE GRID SQUARE SEEKING BEHAVIORS ARE VIRTUALLY INEVITABLE.
THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE OR EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR THIS CONDITION. DEBILITATING
WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS MAY BE EXPERIENCED BETWEEN SPORADIC-E SEASONS IN THE
ABSENCE OF METEOR SCATTER, TROPO, AND AURORA OPENINGS.

Having never ever been on 6 meters, would some kind

Beware Julius, there is no known cure once you become hooked by 6m. I first
got on 6m as VE2AIO in 1956 or 57 and am still suffering :-)
