I think the eventual goal should be to get both. The K3 is likely to be a far better radio than the K2, maybe the best radio on the market, but you BUILD the K2.
Besides the fun of building, you get attached to a radio you built. Maybe get the K2 now and have fun building it, then get a K3 after the dust settles.
