John,

The 8R signal is asserted about 15 ms before the onset of RF - that may be OK for a fast sequencer, but is not for slow switchovers.

I have developed a circuit which will interrupt the K2 paddle inputs and the PTT input until a signal is received to indicate "OK to transmit now". You can find the circuit on my website http://w3fpr.qrpradio.com - check the article related to CW PTT for the K2. It works for both CW and SSB.

To use my circuit, you will need some input (pushbutton, foot-switch, etc) to start your sequencing steps, and the input to my circuit should be a final output from the sequencer.

I know of at least 2 VHF folks and 1 SO2R operator have used it with success, there may be more.

I've been searching around and I can't seem to locate any information
on whether and how much delay there is between key in (or 8R) and key
out on the XV series transverters. I need an early PTT for my
about-to-be-integrated outboard T/R relays .. I've got a external
sequencer solution, but I got to thinking that if there's at least 50
or 100 ms delay coming out of that I could get rid of the diode on the
key in connector and use the 8R to fire a driver for the T/R relay.
Anyone know?
