The KAT100 does not have a relay to bypass the LC circuits. So, with an existing match, it still needs to tune out its own impedances in order to operate properly. If you know that the antenna is already matched, you should tune the KAT100 into a dummy load, then use the settings it works out with the matched antenna(s).

In newer tuners (T1 for example) and additional relay has been added to bypass the LC circuits so that if the tuner sees a low SWR to start off it will stop the tune procedure and go with the bypass condition.

Hope this helps!

I have searched the email archives....but have not found an answer to this question about the KAT-100 Tuner.

When the SWR to the antenna is 1:1 without the tuner....(and the KAT100 is in line) does the KAT100 figure that there is no issue and goes to a mode or point where there is no C and no L in the L/C network? In effect, passing the RF through the unit? According to the MENU...L = 00.6 and C = 0.30 Looks like there is some L and C still in the circuit.

OR - when the SWR is 1:1...should the operator take out the tuner?

Any advice or opinion? (Like this bunch doesn't have any of that)
