Apparently the early versions of our manuals don't quite do justice to
how important it is to do *all* required firmware alignment. Crystal
filter setup, transmit gain and reference oscillator calibration --
these and a few others are very important to the operation of the
radio.
We'll be clarifying this point in the next printing. If you're just
getting your rig now and have the current editions, please don't skip
any steps.
