Hi Barry, Something must have struck the VFO knob and pushed it into the panel. For the metal shaft replacement pot that many have used, go to http://www.mouser.com and enter 652-3540S-1-104 in the part number search box at the top left side of the web page. You'll get a page where you can get all the particulars on this item. Mouser doesn't have a minimum order requirement. The current part price shown is $13.50, and expect about $3.50 shipping. I personally did not find there to be any **significant** difference between the stock VFO pot and this metal shaft replacement with regard to smoothness, noise, wobble, etc., though others have reported improvement in those characteristics.
