Both of these are great ideas.  I have a high-current cigarette lighter plug
with APs on it.  Likewise, I have everything I can get my hands on that is
twelve volts setup with Andersons.  

One of my favorites is my light.  At K-Mart, Home Depot and other stores
(not Wallmart) is a lamp called a "closet light".  It is an 8 watt, 12 volt
light that uses 8 AA batteries.  I modified mine to have an AP connector on
it.  The newer ones come with female barrel connectors on them for external
power.  Mine comes in really handy during a brief power outage, or for
lighting the rear of my cargo van.
