Amazingly enough, this exact waiting game is played out for those who purchase the MINI Cooper automobile. Each purchaser picks his options online, build is overseas, and the shipment is tracked across the pond as it approaches the USA. Some MINI owners actually take pictures of 'their ship' containing 'their car' crossing he bar as it comes into harbor! And then travel to the distribution center to see if they can spot it behind a cyclone fence...
