I did reviews on both the Expert 1K-FA and Tokyo Hy-Power HL-1.5Kfx for CQ Magazine. These reviews are also on my website at www.ad5x.com. These are both very nice amps. The THP is $1K cheaper than the Expert, but the Expert has an internal tuner (3:1 SWR max) and a 4-port antenna switch. But my favorite remains my Ameritron ALS-600 with an MFJ-998 auto-tuner (also have a review of these on my website). The ALS-600 is inexpensive, lightweight and rugged (I've played it into bad loads more times than I can think of and it keeps on protecting itself). Of course, it lacks features and the power is 2dB down from the THP and Expert amps (but the price is 3-5 dB down!!). The ALS-600 amps shipping now have the capability for transceiver band-following using the optional ARI-500 (info is not on the Ameritron website yet). Anyway, my opinion - though I am biased based on the cost. I'm putting money into a K3!! Phil - AD5X
