Toby: I'd recommend using a browser or an FTP client to copy the files from the Elecraft FTP server to a portable memory device (like a USB flash keychain drive, or a floppy disk). The procedure is described in the K3 Utility Help under "Manual Transfer". The FTP site probably won't many (if any) unnecessary files, so this is economical.
I'll work on the K3 Utility's error recovery when there is no K3 installed. I agree that it's too insistent on being connected to a K3. There is an effort underway to port the K3 Utility to Mac and Linux. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Toby Deinhardt Sent: Saturday, November 24, 2007 2:58 AM To: Elecraft List Subject: [Elecraft] [K3] Minor irritation with K3 Firmware Loader, Version 1.0.11.21 Hallo, I do not have internet in our club station, which is on the other side of Munich and where my K3 is. I need to download the Firmware at home and then in the club station upload it to the K3. During the download at least four dialogs pop up asking which com port my K3 is connected to and telling me that new software is available, even if there is nothing new on the FTP server. If possible, it would be nice if the messages which are now in the dialogs, would appear in a status bar at the bottom of the form: Green background for information, yellow for warnings and red for errors. It would also be nice if the the application did not switch pages automagically. When downloading without the K3, I always have switch back to see if there is actually anything new. vy 73 de toby PS: Even cooler would be a description of how the communication works, then I could roll my own... And do it so that it would run on the various systems (Linux, MacOs, Windows, FreeBSD) I have here. -- DD5FZ (ex 4n6fz, dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2/10 #885 K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #67 DOK C12, BCC, DL-QRP-AG _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
