You've got it Stephen! As with the others, limiting the power by limiting the audio drive is preferable. It holds the IMD to a minimum. In any case, you want to avoid an ALC action with PSK31.
As for isolation: the K3 has fully-isolated audio inputs and outputs ;-) What isolation gets you is freedom from hum due to ground loops than include the mains supply lines. I run a notebook PC and when I'm operating PSK with my K2 I just run the notebook on battery! No problems that way even with direct connections between the K2 and computer. Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- FSince I need to limit the output power anyway due to the size of the KPA100 heatsink, am I still better off keeping the output power control on the front panel of the K2 at maximum and reducing audio drive so that I get about 30W output, or should I reduce the output power on the front panel to 30W? With my previous rigs I have always been driven by the necessity to see no ALC action on the meter. Is this the same with the K2? 73 Stephen G4SJP _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
