Thank you, Greg, that is very helpful. But what I meant to say was....
Can I unplug my dual key (with diodes fitted) from my K2 and plug it
straight into the paddle input of the K3, hence using the one key jack
for both keys? It would be nice to be able to use the same key setup
for both rigs.

Its even better. The K3 has a 1/4-in straight key jack AND a paddles jack.
Both can be used at the same time. I keep the computer connected to the
straight key jack while the paddles are still connected.

With the K2, an iambic paddle AND a straight key can be connected to the
key jack at the same time by the use of a couple of diodes as described
in the K2 manual. Thus it is possible to move ones hand from one key to
the other without making any menu adjustment. I find this facility very
useful when wishing to emphasise a word, etc, in a CW over.
