Gary,
Your absolute insistence on checking parts in conjunction with
knowing exactly where the signal was lost lead to a grand discovery.
I had the two groups of three inductors reversed! The inductors are
are shipped with the cores even with the top of the cans and they
have no exterior markings. I saw the grey cores on all six and
assumed they were the same and that the manual was simply wrong in
saying that there were two different colors. But once I really
looked, I realized that the plastic parts of the cores had the brown
and grey colors. I reversed the core positions (no easy task!) and
everything works FB!!
I've built many kits and never ran into this before. Maybe the
inductors could get a colored Sharpie dot on the outside of the can
for easier ID, but maybe I'm the only guy to not figure this out.
I'm turning it over to my ace rover partner for RX alignment.
