One thing I've noticed is the relay noise (physical, not RF) when switching between bands. This appears to depend if I'm jumping about (noisier) or moving up or down through them consecutively (quieter).
Only having used an FT-857 a lot in the past, where I don't notice it, I'm noticing it on the K3. I'm not complaining, I just need to get used to it. This is also partially due to the way I use the rig during my working day. I'm very fortunate in that I work from home and the shack is the office (or is that the other way around :). So I leave the rig on, and running MacLoggerDX, have it set to auto-tune the rig as DX spots come up. Sometimes I hear a spot that I might be able to work etc. So, the K3 sits there, clicking away and its something I hadn't noticed with the FT-857. Wondering if this is common on K2s as well and if others have noticed this in the K3? -- An old miser kept a tame jackdaw, that used to steal pieces of money, and hide them in a hole, which a cat observing, asked, "Why he would hoard up those round shining things that he could make no use of?" "Why," said the jackdaw, "my master has a whole chestfull, and makes no more use of them that I do." -Jonathan Swift, satirist (1667-1745) _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
