You've got a point there. My 756Pro would get me from one place to another
real quick if I turned the knob faster. It had a drawback or two but I do
prefer it over constantly pressing those buttons on the K3. Hey Wayne, can
this go on the things-to-do list too?

Yes, that's the right way to do this.
And, after the code is written to read the encoder this way, apply it to
the VFO as well.
I'd much rather spin the knob fast and have the rig accelerate tuning
(like my Icom did) than to have to hit the consarned rate button all the
time. I'd pay $$ extra to get little pieces of functionality like that.
