My favorite example of that was a little Sony FM radio I bought a couple
years ago to use while bicycle touring. I chose that particular unit
because it supposedly included all 7 NOAA weather channels. But when I
got it home and tried it I noticed that I was hearing the same audio on
all 7 channels with exactly the same weak signal level. I tested it
with an HP signal generator, and sure enough it was actually receiving
channel 1 on all 7 channels.

Took it back to the store for a replacement. Second unit acted the
same.

Contancted Sony and they denied everything. Told me I must be doing
something wrong.

So they were shipping a radio with the main feature completely
non-functional - and refusing to even acknowledge it as a problem. Do
they figure most customers won't notice?
