Don Thanks - that was the hint i needed to sort out the maze of connectors.
Yes it was open from KAT100 U1 pin 40 to K2 Control Board P4 pin 2. So i opened the K2 and laid everything flat -- each board was ok. I powered up and it came to life. I suspect the ribbon cable between the K2 control board and KPA100 was pinched. I carefully put it together and all is well now.
