For the first time in my radio career, I have a fast internet connection co-located with my rig. I just used the K3 updater to install the current firmware and the process was amazingly smooth and fast. The software checked for an update, found one, downloaded it and then sent it to the rig. The rig display switches from its normal information (freq./status/etc.) to simply "MCU Loading" (or something like that) while it is loading. Then the rig automatically shuts down and powers back up again to load the DSP update. The normal rig information is displayed, but "DSP Loading" is in the DSP configuration window. When that finishes, it powers down and back up again so that you have a brand new rig again, new features and all! I guess I'm lucky in that I have a "real" RS232 port to lessen complications with COMM lines, but this is ANOTHER impressive piece of the entire package you get with a K3. Now back to the learning curve. ;-) Bob K5WA K3 #234 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
