I've been playing around a little in the ARRL DX contest, mainly looking for some new ones. I decided to use the K2/100 feeding the amp because it was still hooked up from the WPX RTTY last weekend. First time I've used it in a CW contest. I finally turned the TS-850 on, and switched back and forth on a few weak DX signals just as a test. Scandinavia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia were very weak and watery, possibly some aurora. They were not readable on the 850 ... in a couple of cases I could tell they were there but couldn't have copied them. Worked them all easily on the K2. They were weak but they sort of stood out in front of the almost inaudible noise. The K2 isn't supposed to be a contest radio, but it sure seems to work well for me.
