I'm the other K2 owner (#5339 + KPA100) mentioned in Douglas' question
and comments.....
I have the same problems:
a) on 40m including the repeat of the problem after changing to another
band and back. Switching to ALC display cures the problem.
b) same as (a) on 80m, 30m and 20m, but no repeat of the problem after
band change
c) no problem on 17m, 15m, 12, or 10m
I have the additional problem of low output (50W measured on external
power meter with 100W power setting) on 80 - 20m. It looks as though the
ALC is limiting the output on these bands.
