Werner,

If no other pushbuttons fail at the same time, the most likely is soldering at the switch itself (or a bad switch, which is rare, but could happen). The pushbuttons are arranged in a matrix. If there is a failure in the sensing circuits, the entire horizontal row or the entire vertical row would fail. You could try refreshing the solder connections from the back of the front panel board, but replacing the switch requires removing the FP board from the front panel metalwork - the hardest part of that is removing the knobs, not a daunting task, but more of a bother.

After solving the 40/80m KPA100 overdrive problem with the help and good advice of Don Wilhelm I come back with a new one: This weekend I had a intermittend key failure of the menu key and the PF2 key on my K2. All other keys worked. Switch on / off did not help, but a little clap (like the claps I got as a naughty child) on top of the K2 immediately turned things to normal. I suspect a bad soldering somewhere on the display unit. If the failure comes back, where should I start to look / resolder? I think it is not the key itself, but elsewhere...
