Rose, I think the covers are perfect just the way they are.  i especially like 
how the back flap is not attached at the sides, so it is easy to slide onto the 
radio.  I am still waiting for my K3 to arrive, but I am using it on my old 
Yaesu FT-840 (slightly smaller than the K3).  Well made product!
