I would hope that any hardware modifications would be carefully researched and evaluated and then released to the field (beta) tester for further testing and evaluation prior to an official release to the general public. Rather than keeping hardware changes "secret" my experience with Elecraft has been that as soon as they have a "fix" for a problem it will be available to all, with all the appropriate documentation.
