I use the presets all the time, just about every time I operate (cw). I like them the way they are, but to be honest, I don't see a whole lot of difference between "locking" them and adjusting them on the fly.
Since "everything is possible in firmware," can't you do both? Push the "right" knob to select 1 vs 2, ----or----- depress BOTH the left and right knobs at the same time (Norm and I/II) to toggle into the "fixed" bandwidths.
