While you can certainly follow DW's advice, there's an errata to the manual due to be released in a day or two that says to simply solder the leads to the pads even though they don't pass through the holes. Without flooding the board with solder, just use enough to make a good connection between the leads and the pads. The existing errata shows a picture of how that looks when it's done. The solder joints are plenty strong enough to hold the diffuser even though the shorter leads don't pass through the board.
