Good Evening,
My ears are in better shape now that I've had a break for dinner. Forty
meters was getting very loud toward the end of the second net. QRN from
Midwestern storms was strong, QSB was getting deeper, and the QRM was strong
enough to cover my sidetone. I did manage to work a QRP station at the end but
he was very tough; sorry Aubrey, I just could not get all of your sending.
However, the second net lasted until 0213z while the first one terminated at
2355z for my much needed break. I've not counted the number of check ins but
signals were good and the log will be filled by the time I am done.
Spring is coming slowly to the Northwest. In the valley the first daffodils
are blooming. Up here the snow drops are just getting started. There is a six
week difference due to the elevation. Most of the snow is gone but I had a
little more yesterday. It got rather cold last night so I brought in an extra
load of wood. Sam is staring at the woodstove in a daze of pleasure. One day
I expect to find him melted with a Cheshire smile in the puddle :)

These 40 check ins tie the highest number ever! 550 individuals have
checked in for a total of 4476 times. We have collected 426 separate serial
numbers for the rigs we could verify. There are many other rigs used thus far
but we did not start asking for serial numbers until later in our history. We
still need SD and DE for an Elecraft to Elecraft Worked All States. It really
doesn't count for WAS unless it is pure :) Not being an elitist, I am simply
making it a bit more difficult ;) I know there is at least one radio amateur
in DE and another one in SD because I have worked each of them CW. I just
don't think they get on the air very often! Kind of like that WA6HHQ guy :)
He spends way too much time off the air!
I know there are a few fills required in the above lists. If there are in
corrects too please send them to me via email. From what I could ascertain
spring has not yet hit a lot of the country. The sun is rising earlier and
higher but the temperatures are not yet warm. I am going to continue clearing
the winter windfall from the yard so Pat's daffodils will not have to fight
their way through the debris. Another couple of weeks and they will start
sprouting.
Until next week stay well,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
