Mike,

The sideband selections are not hard coded, but they are remembered per band. You must set it up once and then the correct sideband will be remembered (until you change it). If the sideband is not correct for a particular band, hold ALT and it will change. SSB now works the same way as CW and RTTY modes (which also have sideband selection capability). Yes, this is a relatively new thing. Check the firmware release notes. I believe a compilation of the newer firmware features may be forthcoming, but in the meantime please read the release notes to see what the changes have been.
