Your K3 isn;t damaged. :-)
The 1.28 loader should be fine. If you are having CPU lockup problems,
that may be due to a comm driver version issue if you are using a USB to
Serial adapter like the KUSB. If you have the KUSB, you absolutely need
to be using the latest drivers. They are noted in the install notes for
the KUSB and on our K3 software page. They can be found at:
