it tries to accurately represent the printed page, but is not editable
(beyond replacing or adding whole pages).
Not entirely true, David, Adobe Acrobat does have a "Text Touchup" tool
than enables changes to be made to the PDF document. In fact, I have
anglicised (US anglicized) versions of the Assembly and Operator's
Manuals.
