Hi Bud,
I think that you will really enjoy both building and using your K1. I have
a 4-band K1 (40, 30, 20, 15) and I actually use it as my main station rig.
(I have a KX-1 for portable operations). It's a great little radio. Not
too hard to build and the learning curve for using all of it's features is
not too bad either. About a year ago I added the backlight option but would
recommend that if this is something that you want it would be much easier to
do it during the initial build. Most recently I added the ATU unit and
retired my old MFJ Versa Tuner. If you have any questions during the
building process be sure to post them. I am sure that you will get helpful
responses in spite of the "K3 fever" that currently saturates the list.
