In my slow-flowing way, I just came back from a meeting of our local DX group where a guy -- who also has a K3 -- poured molasses all over a new FT-2000, which he owned for about a week before getting his money back. According to him, the DSP artifacts were so bad it was impossible to use for weak-signal DXing.

That counts as immature firmware, or at least thick, glutinous, sticky firmware.
