Hello John! As you venture farther and farther from the Ham bands, the sensitivity of the K3 will decrease because you'll be outside the normal response of the standard filters.
Try a frequency far removed from a Ham band. The lower end of the AM broadcast band is a good place, because you're after a percentage difference in frequency from a Ham band, not just a certain number of kilocycles. You should hear a profound difference in signal strength. I just tried in on AM 820 a local 1 KW (yes one kilowatt!) AM station about ten miles away. It's 20 over 9 with the KBPF3 enabled and barely audible down deep in the noise when the KBPF3 is disabled. Remember, you have to cycle the K3 power off, then on again after making the change to the status of the KPBF3 (or any option) before it takes effect. Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- I'm trying to test the KBPF3 unit. Is there a way to do this? If I go out of the amateur bands, it seems to receive even If I have the KBPF option turned off? Am I doing something wrong? John N2KBE _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
