I am running a K3 on the MARS frequencies (working quite well, FYI). I would like to know if the K3 internal ATU (KAT3) will still tune correctly out-of-band (e.g., 'Amateur' bands).
I know the tuner only has a certain range of operation regarding the load being tuned, such as 20:1, or whatever. But, is the range of operation also frequency dependent, or will it work on a K3 that has had its transmit 'opened' for operation on the CAP/MARS frequencies, and is operating in those 'outside' bands?
