Hola,
Need some help setting up the K3 with microKeyer and HRD. I have the K3 cable (from microHam) going to the MK and then have the Mic cable going to the mic input on the laptop; the soundcard 'out' on the MK goes to the headphone jack on the laptop. I have the Com ports configured according to the MK guide. Com 1 = K3; Com 2=FSK (ptt checked); Com4=CW; Com5=Control (for Win-Test); Com 7= Winkey; Com 8= PTT. I have tested this configuration and it works FB with N1MM and WinTest on SSB and CW. For everyday use and logging, I use HRD. HRD recognizes the K3 with freq readouts and seems to work OK. The problem I have is with the Digital Master 780. I do not get any signals on the waterfall or monitor. I have selected the laptop's sound card and still nothing. Even more baffling is when I 'click' on 'CQ' the computer sends the characters but the K3 only keys up with a steady tone, telling me that the characters are NOT getting to the K3 even though the PTT has activated xmit. I have tried using Rtty, BPSK and keyboard CW; none seem to work. I went to the FAQs and came up with the following for 'No sigs':

No Signals
If you do not see any signals in the waterfall then follow the steps below:

Soundcard
Make sure you have selected the correct soundcard. To select the soundcard wither:

From the Tools menu select Program Options, then the Soundcard page, or
From the View menu select Soundcard, then press Options.
Make sure the correct soundcard is selected along with the input source. For some soundcards such as the M-Audio Delta 44 and SignaLink USB you will not see a Source. Do not worry - if a source is not displayed this is because there is only one input source and no way of adjusting the input level, it is fixed.

Set the default sample rate to 48 kHz - if not supported DM780 falls back to 8 kHz.

Changes are applied immediately, look in the Logfile for any errors. If the soundcard can be started correctly you will see text similar to:

09:21:35 Sound Thread: *** Start Input ***
09:21:35 Sound Thread: Opening Creative Sound Blaster PCI (device ID 2)
09:21:35 Sound Thread: Frequency .....: 48kHz
09:21:35 Sound Thread: Buffer size ...: 24576
09:21:35 Sound Thread: Oversampling ..: On

*/And 'yes' I did get the above Logfile.../.
*

If you see text similar to the above then you have opened the soundcard for receive. If you still do not see any signals in the waterfall:

Look at the soundcard, identify the input source where you have connected your interface. This will usually be Line In (it is better the use Line In rather than Microphone as Line In will have a flat frequency response). In the Soundcard pane (select Soundcard from the View menu) select (*) RX at the bottom of the pane and make sure that the input source is selected - look at the Select button at the top of the pane - this will be depressed. The input source level is adjusted with the slider - make sure this is not set to zero. The Signal Level indicator will show a value greater than zero. You don't need a very strong signal, pretty well anything will do, a value of just 20 is absolutely fine. If the input source is selected, the input slider and the signal level stays at zero then you are not supplying a signal to the soundcard. Try connecting a microphone or some headphone to the input connector on the soundcard. If this produces some noise on the waterfall - anything - then the problem is the interface between the PC and radio.

/*Tried all of this...moving cable from "mic" on back of MK to Soundcard "IN". Still no signals nor xmit, other than keying the K3 in RTTY or BPSK.*/

I do not think there is anything wrong with the MK as I used it previously with O II and MMTTY. I have spent about 6 hours fussing with this and going on line to read HRD/MK guides and K3 manual.
Is there any suggestions on what maybe I have missed?

Tnx & 73
Tom
