I have been using a beta version of Ham Radio Deluxe with my K3 using a real serial interface (no USB conversion dongle).
I enjoy being able to click on DX spots and have the radio automatically switch bands and frequencies to the spot. Something strange though, after a session of looking at the spots I have to power cycle the K3 in order for SSB transmit audio to be intelligible. I had one report that my audio was so narrow that it could not be understood, this was to a local with 20 over S9 signal. My suspicion is that I was transmitting through the 500 Hz CW filter. I don't really know. I formed this opinion because I brought up the filter management utility and reset the SSB transmit mode to the 2.7 KHz filter. It was there originally but when I moved it to the 6 KHz filter and then moved it back to the 2.7 KHz filter the radio performed normally from that point. Today I had the same problem after cycling through some spots and I power cycled the K3 and the radio then performed normally at that point. Nothing changes in the Rx audio path when this issue comes up. I couldn't hazard a guess if this is a K3 issue or a HRD issue. However I remember reading a post here where someone after making changes to configuration settings that the radio needed to be power cycled for the changes to take. This is why I tried the power cycle approach today. Perhaps I cycled through the spots too quickly (I was pretty fast) and the K3 doesn't have enough time to change states before the next command comes in and the K3 ends up in a confused state. Okay, I am hazarding guesses now.
