you are right.
the HC-4 and HC-5 elements are dynamic and don't need a bias voltage.
in theory you could even burn the coil if you apply a bias voltage.
the Heil headset for Elecraft have the IC-element, which is a condenser
mike and this needs bias turned on to work.
