Thanks David, that did it!

I'm sure the previous times I did PORT menu it didn't show usbserial.

Tomorrow, I'll try the new brain.

Hi Windy,

It sounds like you're trying to communicate with a
modem or a bluetooth device. The KUSB will appear as
"usbserial" in the Port menu. Be sure you are
selecting "usbserial" as your port.

The Filter Configuration is still under development
and not yet functional in the Mac and Linux versions.

System: Mac OSX 10.5.2.
I have the KUSB adapter cable.
I downloaded AND installed the appropriate Prolific
driver for my OS,
as instructed (PL2303 driver). Installation looked
normal. I
restarted, etc.

I have K3 Utility v. 1.1.4.1
K3 is turned on, connected to USB port.
Port -- after Refresh Port List, I hit Test
Communications. It says
"MCU boot loader is ready for MCU firmware load
RS232 39400 bps."

Firmware --
I GOT the download of new files from Elecraft OK --
Utility shows MCU
Available: 01.87, etc.

I hit Send All New Firmware to K3

This is as far as I can get:
20:50:09 New firmware is available for your K3
20:51:29 K3 boot loader is waiting for MCU firmware
load.
20:51:44 K3 boot loader is waiting for MCU firmware
load.

This is the same message I was getting BEFORE I
installed the Prolific
driver.
I don't think computer is talking to K3:
Crystal Filter Configuration shows all zeros

K3 Config still shows 1.78
I turned K3 off, then back on. No help. Am I
supposed to do something
at K3 other than turn it on?

Frustrated!
