If the problem is not a tight microphone junction (mine wasn't), just remove the 3D up front to make your pin alignment easier, you can put it back in after the front panel is mated.

It's a tight fit, and may have to be reamed a bit. Try wiggling the panel around that area and see if that isn't where it is binding up. Mine was tight, but didn't have to do any reaming of the hole.
