Likewise with the KPA3 option kit I recently received. There is little difference in the texture of both sides. The finish does have a slight crackle appearance to it, but it is very slight.

Does this really make a difference? I assume the 'troublesome' one has a coat of finish on both sides (if not, I take that statement back and you should ask for a new plate). If there is a bit more of a crackle finish on one side vs. the other side, I can't see if it would make any real difference, black is black, and I don't look that hard at the rear of my K3 nor the inside.

The paint shop likely just sprayed one side a bit longer than the other side, and I would think there is nothing more serious to it.
