I'll keep trying that's for sure. Hopefully, things will be better when my K3
arrives. :-)

Gary,
Thanks for trying on 20! I called a little, but found action on 40. After
that, I popped up to 20 a couple more times for a quick check, but heard
nobody. I'm sure that was us that you were hearing on 7.192. We usually
identify frequently, but we got casual about that last night. This is a
reminder to mention the net frequently in our IDs, and pause for check-ins.
When noise levels are high, even my mojo-saturated 120 watts doesn't cut
it. I often turn the control over to someone who is being heard better, with
more power and a higher antenna. However, we've had some wonderfully quiet
nights recently, so please keep trying. It's a pleasure to hear the 10-watt
guys. On noisy nights, the best approach may be to find something better to
do -- Wait for the quiet nights, rather than spin your wheels.
Here is the full list of check-ins last night on 7.192 at 0130:
Windy KM5Q, net catalyst, K3
Roger WA7BOC, faithful sidekick K3
Bruce W8FU, new K3, first time in net, took control with best signal 1KW to
a beam
Jim K4JAF, expecting K3 in a month
Peter N8MHD, K2/100
and a nod to Gary N7HTS for making the effort
At 0230, conditions were better, but only Roger and I reappeared, first on
20, then better on 40. Keep this later time in mind, please.

Hi Windy,
I tried to check into the 20 meter net last night but, nobody heard
me! I wascalling CQ ten minutes before the net started and about ten
minutes after itstarted. I heard someone on the frequency announce
the Elecraft net but, I guess he couldn't hear me. I was running 10
watts on my K2. Unfortunately we had bad weather here last night
with tornados, hail and severe thunderstorms so, I had my main
vertical antenna down. It's on a tilt mount. I was using a small
portable vertical so, I'm sure that didn't help. I went to 40 meters
and heard some activity at 7.192 but, I wasn't sure it was the net
since I didn't hear any mention of it. Instead of spending time on
the net, I spent the evening as a weather spotter on 2 meters.
I'll try again next time!
