One can rewire the mic plug of an HM-36 to work with the K3 as far as the mic and PTT. However, unless the cable has a spare wire it will not be possible to make the up/down buttons work. Icom uses a single connection for both up and down. "Up" grounds the function lead directly while "Down" connects the function lead to ground through 100 Ohms. 73, ...
