Try playing with the Receive Audio Equalization (EQ) settings described on page 33 of the K3 Owner's Manual. Perhaps you can reduce the bass. Headphones sold for popular music will sometimes boost the bass a tad because that's what many people prefer when comparing headphones.
Some CW operators prefer relatively low (200-600 Hz) CW notes, but this depends on individual hearing ability, experience, and preference.
