If you set AI1; and then turn the VFO A knob, hopefully you'll see an IF packet sent within a second or so of changing the frequency.
The initial implementation in an early firmware version spewed data once a second whether anything had changed or not. Now AI1; sends the IF packet only when a frequency setting changes. See the K3 Programmer's Reference for details.
