Unfortunately, a similar philosophy seems to pervade the industry which prefers to ignore collateral damage in its war against spam, malware, etc. I have had the experience -- several times and with several ISPs -- of having my emails bounced because the IP address was on some blacklist or for other reasons.

In one particularly annoying incident, a customer of mine in Perth, Australia asked an urgent technical question. Of course my replies to him bounced, as his questions became more and more panicky. Ultimately I phoned him.

The website of the blacklist that caught me explained its functions in an insulting, patronizing manner, and did not respond to entreaties from me or my ISP (who tried to be helpful). Ultimately the guy in Australia got *his* ISP to stop subscribing to the blacklist and we could communicate again!
