I noticed a couple of posts re N1MM and erratic cw performance and low audio with Heil Pro Set + headphones.
Re the N1MM; I suffered a similar problem during IARU least weekend - K3, Linear at ~ 400W, dipole partly above my shack at ~ 30 feet. Symptoms were mainly long dashes. Also, whilst keying I could hear clicks in my Heil headphones. I immediately wrapped the headphone lead around a ferrite ring close to the ear piece and the clicks disappeared but the erratic cw continued. Another ferrite ring on the headphone lead close to the K3 socket. Problem disappeared. With only 12 inches or so between my linear and the K3 I guess it we can put that down to EMC. I also use double ferrite beads and clip-ons on the parallel port keying circuit leads. Re the audio level of the Pro set + I have no problems at all. Volume control at about 10 o'clock does me fine and my ears are just past the half century mark with over 20 of those in the Army having fired off 10,000's of rounds of ammo so am probably a little LF deaf. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
